The origins of this painting are a little more complicated than any of my other current works.

In 2021 I painted this cityscape cloudscape that i titled Get Well Soon Again, It was sort of a sequel to this digital piece i did in 2019 that I titled, get this, Get Well Soon.

The original piece’ title was sort of a double meaning because I was listening to the song, Get Well Soon by Ariana Grande off of her album Sweetener.

And that song has a message about taking care of yourself mentally.

But also the phrase Get Well Soon is just meant to tell someone that you hope that they get better physically, usually from an illness.

And my aunt at the time in early 2019 was undergoing chemotherapy to treat her cancer.

How does this have to do with this painting? Well at the time I was painting it in 2021, my aunt’s cancer had sadly returned.

So I painted this as a continuation.

I felt like the colors of the two pieces were of a similar pink-ish palette that reflects my aunt’s personality.

Also my cousin had sent me the original source image from her neighborhood so it was almost like a collaborative thing we did for our shared aunt.

As a bonus, lets just say, I have a very good reason to make a third edition of this unplanned painting series. So i think that is why I am still thinking about this painting all of these years later.
